Having recently got engaged I have been on a mission to lose weight. Bethan offers a flexible program, enabling me to exercise around shift work. She is very motivational, offering realistic goals which keep me focused in-between sessions, as well as making sure I achieve my targets. She has given me the confidence to believe in my own ability and is diverse in changing my program. At only 4 weeks in I am noticing the difference, and have lost over 5cm on my waist – which can only be a good thing!

Whilst I had the motivation to go to the gym I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. I had never worked with a trainer before and it has changed my life. I could then physically see that going to the gym was worth it.

Kelly and Bethan are great at ascertaining your levels and ensuring everything is totally tailored to you, I felt that my success was their success and I didn’t want to let them or myself down.

Nearly a year ago now I did my first Metafit session and it was hard, really hard. I hadn’t done any exercise in a while, it had always been something I’d avoided my whole life if I’m being honest. P.E. was a dreaded lesson and my confidence when exercising was non-existent. If you had told me then that I would be running 5 miles while tackling a lot of muddy obstacles I don’t think I would have believed you.

That is what is so amazing about Bethan. She helps you to achieve things that you don’t always believe you can. I am a lot fitter than I was, I’m eating healthier and my body shape is changing. I’ve gone from one Metafit session a week to a combination of Metafit and Group PT. Most importantly I don’t dread exercising anymore, especially not with the lovely Berkhamsted Fitness community.

Over the past year Bethan has helped me to change my lifestyle and that’s why I know it will stick. I am much more confident in my fitness ability and while there is still a way to go I know I will keep improving with Bethan’s help.

“I have gone from a size 14/16 to a size 8”

I was in denial for years! My size 16trousers didn’t rip because I was over weight it was because there was a fault with the trousers. Whilst looking in the mirror I would blame the poor lighting or that it was a “bad” mirror. I thought I couldn’t possibly be fat because I don’t eat huge portions and I always eat fruit and I always have a portion of veg with dinner. Then one night my daughter was crying so I ran up the stairs , when I got to the top I was out of breath. This was the day I realised I was overweight.

 I found Kelly on Facebook and sent her this message :

“Hey I’m need in need of some help and guidance with getting fit I am currently super unfit and overweight! I had a baby four years ago! I just haven’t got back into exercise! I’m a single mum so I don’t have much spare time! Not that I’m making excuses for my laziness!! How much are your personal training lessons? And do you help with healthy eating?”

Turns out I really knew nothing about healthy eating! So I arranged to do a trial session and I was very nervous about going into the gym,  I was shy and embarrassed about being a fat girl in the gym,.  I struggled with the simplest exercises, Kelly put me at ease and made me realise you should not be embarrassed because you haven’t done something before. I signed up for 12 weeks of sessions and on reflection it was the best decision I have ever made!

In the beginning I dreaded going, it was hard hard work. Kelly helped me with a food plan and explained the importance of planning and preparing food – then she told me – I HAD TO CUT OUT ALCOHOL! What was I going to do with out wine?

I didn’t manage this for the first 2/3weeks!

At this point I was very frustrated and Kel said if you don’t listen to me and follow the food plan your not going to GET RESULTS! I was cross and I went home cross – I knew I had to stop drinking wine, be strict with my food, no more sneaky late night chocolate or wine! And I must start eating breakfast.  

I now, eat breakfast and have a structured eating plan thanks to Kelly and her knowledge.  The results started to happen when I took everything on board. And understood that it is a combination of exercise and nutrition that is sustainable to get me the result I needed.

I now eat much more than I used to, it’s just healthy and balanced. And I DON’T count calories.

So many things in my life have changed for the better, I now sleep really well at night, my concentration has improved at home and work. I am now CONFIDENT for probably the first time in my life – I used to be self conscious on the school run, going to the pub, generally going out anywhere. Once I lost some weight it gave me real motivation to carry on and I started to enjoy training session (except from box jumps!)

Kelly has mentored and guided me on this journey to being healthy, I have bugged her with multiple photos of food in super markets, several times a week trying to find out if they are healthy and if not how often could I eat them. Kelly has also listened and advised me on totally not gym related issues – she makes you feel so comfortable that you spill all your worldly problems to her whilst doing lunges !
Kel has encourage me and been truly happy for me when I lost inches, she has given me the confidence and the right mindset to continue being healthy and happy. I have gone from a size 14/16 to a size 8 I’m not going to lie it was tough but it’s the best thing I have ever done! Now on to phase 2. Learning how to maintain.
